(GMHS-PTSA) BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINATIONS 2016-2017
Nominations to fill seats on PTSA Board of Directors for the 2016-2017 school year are now being accepted. Joining the GMHS-PTSA leadership is a great way to support the entire GMHS community. Interested persons may be nominated or self nominated for more than one position for more than one Board position and more than one Committee Chair position. Nominees are not required to have children attending GMHS.
Nominations will be accepted until Sunday, May 1, 2016. Officers will be elected on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 and take office effective July 1, 2016.
President - At a minimum, the PTSA President provides positive and proactive direction and leadership to the entire GMHS-PTSA association. The President works collaboratively with the school administration and ensures the mission/activities of the PTSA are supportive and goal oriented. Expected Commitment: One (1) school year; 8 - 12 hours per month President Elect (First Vice President) - At a minimum, the President Elect supports the president in guiding the organization while participating in training in preparation to assume the presidential responsibilities during the next school year. The President Elect communicates regularly with the President and readily assumes/completes responsibilities as assigned by the President. The President Elect also assumes all parliamentarian and membership/volunteer recruitment activities. Expected Commitment: One (1) school year; 8 - 12 hours per month Second Vice President - At a minimum, the Second Vice President will coordinate with Committee Chairs to ensure all PTSA activities/programs support the association’s goal, purposes and are properly planned and executed. As needed, the Second Vice President will serve as the liaison between PTSA Committees and the Board of Directors. Expected Commitment: One (1) school year; 7 - 10 hours per month Secretary - At a minimum, the Secretary will take, keep and distribute accurate meeting minutes of all PTSA meetings (ie: general membership meetings, board meetings, executive committee meetings and special meetings). The minutes will include at a minimum all motions, votes and a record of attendance. The Secretary will maintain an up-to-date list of all PTSA members and a copy of the association Bylaws with amendments attached. The Secretary will assemble and preserve a record of the PTSA’s activities, achievements and contributions. The Secretary will prepare and maintain official correspondence between the Association and the National, Regional and other local PTA’s. Expected Commitment: One (1) school year; 4 - 5 hours per month Treasurer - At a minimum, the Treasurer is legally responsible and is the authorized custodian of the GMHS PTSA funds. The Treasurer must maintain an accurate and up-to-date accounting system of GMHS PTSA financial transactions. The Treasurer will conduct audits, propose budgets and ensure required financial documents are prepared and submitted within required timeframes (ie: tax returns). Expected Commitment: One (1) school year; 7 - 10 hours per month.
